Loggers lose at Pacific, 4-2

Box Score

HILLSBORO, Oregon – Ricardo Barraza finished with his second multi-hit game of the season, but the Puget Sound baseball team lost at Pacific, 4-2, on Saturday.

Barraza finished 2-for-4 at the plate to improve his batting average to .333 in 11 games this season.

Puget Sound (6-10, 2-5 NWC) starting pitcher Joshua Zavisubin allowed just two earned runs in five innings. Eric Crispell worked three shutout innings out of the bullpen.

Pacific (9-10, 4-9 NWC) plated to two runs in the third inning and one more in the fifth. The Loggers got on the board in the sixth stanza when they loaded the bases with nobody out. Ian Hughes, Hunter Riley, and Barraza hit consecutive singles to begin the top of the sixth. Alex Wojtysiak lifted a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to score Hughes.

The Boxers got the run back in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Nick Ultsch drew a one-out walk in the ninth inning, and a wild pitch followed by an error allowed him to round the bases for the game's final run.

The Loggers and Boxers play two on Sunday, March 19, starting at 1 p.m.
