Outlasting La Verne
The Loggers opened the 2016 campaign by edging out the Leopards, 31-29, in Baker Stadium. Austin Wagner's 34-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter put the game out of reach. Wagner rain for 183 yards, while Aiden Santino came away with his first-career touchdown reception.
Records fall
The 2016 Loggers set several single-season program records. Hans Fortune '17 set standards for passing yards (3,045) and pass completions (276) in a season. As a team, Puget Sound set a school record by averaging 446.8 yards of total offense per game.
An early homecoming
While Puget Sound's Homecoming Weekend is not until Oct. 7 (vs. Lewis & Clark), the first game of 2017 is a homecoming for senior Tanner Diebold. The Logger quarterback will make his first collegiate start under center in his hometown, at La Verne, this Saturday.
Dynamic Diebold
Tanner Diebold got his first real chance to show off his athleticism during his sophomore season. During the Loggers' 22-19 win at Claremont-M-S in September 2015, Diebold completed all of three of his pass attempts, and he ran for 67 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.
