Efficient attack leads to Loggers' sweep at George Fox

Box Score

NEWBERG, Oregon – The Puget Sound volleyball team had its most efficient offensive game of the season as the Loggers beat George Fox, 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-17), on the road Friday night.

The Loggers (5-5, 2-1 NWC) finished with a season-high .255 kill-percentage. Reigning Logger of the Week Rita Dexter led Puget Sound with 11 kills and a .360 kill-percentage. Kristen Miguel posted a .348 kill-percentage to go along with her nine kills. Moira MicVicar led all players with 34 assists.

The Bruins (2-4, 1-3 NWC) held a 17-13 lead in the opening set, but Dexter accounted for three of the Loggers' next four points to cut the deficit to 18-17. A kill by Miguel tied the score, 21-21, and a handful of George Fox errors allowed the Loggers to come away with a 25-23 win in the first set.

Puget Sound won narrowly again in the second set, 25-22, and dominated the third set, 25-17.

The Loggers look to maintain momentum at Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 5 p.m.
