Box Score SPOKANE, Washington – Puget Sound's bats were riding high entering Spokane, but the Loggers' offense was silenced in a 6-1 loss at Whitworth Saturday afternoon. The second game for the day is postponed and rescheduled for a doubleheader Sunday, March 25, starting at 11 a.m.
Entering Saturday's contest, the Loggers (12-10, 6-6 NWC) tallied at least 10 hits in five consecutive games. However, Puget Sound was limited to just five hits against the Pirates (11-12, 6-6).
Jack Gries and Kyle Strash both reached base twice for the Loggers. Gries led off the game with a single, and Strash followed with a walk. But a strikeout and a double play ended the early threat.
Trailing 6-0, Strash led off the seventh inning with a single. Nick Ultsch's single put runners on the corners, and Corey Roberts drove in the Loggers' only run with an RBI single to short.
