Box Score TACOMA, Washington – Michael Warnick won his third consecutive start as the Puget Sound baseball team wrapped up a three-game home series against Whitman with a 7-2 victory Saturday afternoon.
Warnick tossed six innings and allowed just two earned runs against the Blues (15-15, 8-9 NWC). His 6-1 record is the best in the Northwest Conference. Through his last three starts, Warnick has allowed only five earned runs in 19.2 innings (2.34 ERA).
Although Whitman scored a run in the top of the first, the Loggers (14-14, 10-8 NWC) answered back with four runs in the bottom of the opening frame. Ricardo Barraza hit a one-out double, and Jack Gries followed with a walk. Nick Ultsch singled up the middle to score Barraza, and Hunter Riley drew a walk to load the bases.
Connor Dunn cleared the bases when he ripped a double to left-center field, and that all the offense Puget Sound needed.
The Loggers play a make-up conference game at Pacific Lutheran, Monday, April 2, at 3:30 p.m.
