Big game by Muramaru and Strash not enough against Pacific

Box Score

PARKLAND, WashingtonCal Muramaru and Kyle Strash combined to hit 7-for-10, but the Puget Sound baseball team lost to Pacific, 10-7, Saturday evening. Pacific Lutheran hosted the non-conference game.

Puget Sound (16-22) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Muramaru hit a one-out double down the right-field line, and Kyle Strash followed with a run-scoring double. However, the Boxers answered back with three runs in the home half of the opening stanza.

The Loggers tied it up, 3-3, in the top of the second inning when Dylan Salcedo and Muramaru both hit RBI doubles. RBIs by both Tyler Brazelton and James Dejesus gave the Loggers a 5-3 lead in the third inning.

Still, Pacific found an answer and plated four runs in the bottom of the third. The Boxers' lead grew to 10-5 after six innings.

Muramaru went 4-for-5 while hitting No. 2 in the order, and Strash was 3-for-5 while batting right behind Muramaru. Salcedo finshed the game 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The season concludes Sunday, April 29, at Pacific Lutheran. The Loggers play Linfield at 1 p.m., and then have a rematch against Pacific scheduled for 4 p.m.
