PARKLAND, Washington – The Puget Sound baseball team rallied for three runs in the eighth inning to beat Pacific, 5-2, in the final game of the 2018 season. The Loggers lost to Linfield earlier in the day, 16-3. Pacific Lutheran hosted both games.

Puget Sound 5, Pacific 2

The Loggers and Boxers entered the eighth inning knotted at two runs apiece, but Puget Sound scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the season finale, 5-2. 

With runners on the corners and two outs in the eighth, and James Dejesus delivered the go-head hit as Jack Gries touched home plate to give Puget Sound a 3-2 edge. Cal Muramaru was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and Connor Dunn drew a walk to force in Jack Pelc.

Kyle Strash drew another bases-loaded walk for Puget Sound, allow Dejesus to score and give the Loggers a 5-2 cushion.

Dakota Marley earned the win for the Loggers by retiring the final four Boxers in order. Ryan Moyes collected his fifth multi-hit game of the season by going 2-for-4 at the plate.

Starting pitcher Joe Brennan ended the season on a high note. He tossed six shutout innings while striking out six batters.

Puget Sound 3, Linfield 16

The Loggers totaled three extra-base hits against Linfield, but the Wildcats scored multiple runs in five consecutive innings to beat Puget Sound, 16-3.

Nick Ultsch's double in the fifth innings put runners on the corners, and Jake Brady's sac fly allowed Hunter Riley to tag up and score. Ryan Moyes followed with an RBI single to plate Ultsch. Riley also hit a double in the ninth inning.

Cal Muramaru hit a triple in the sixth inning, and Tyler Mick brought him home with a single through the right side.
