Box Score TACOMA, Washington – Despite committing a season-high 26 turnovers, the Puget Sound women's basketball team pushed past Evergreen State, 72-58, in Memorial Fieldhouse Wednesday night.
Puget Sound (5-2) committed five turnovers in the game's first eight minutes, but the Loggers still managed to hold a 20-8 lead. Puget Sound's 3-point shooting allowed the Loggers to claim a large lead in the first quarter. Cassidy Daugherty connected on a pair of 3-pointers in the early going, while RaeAnn Allen and Mara Henderson both hit from deep in the first quarter.
The Loggers took a 42-24 lead into halftime.
The second half began similarly to the first as Puget Sound committed a few more turnovers. The errors allowed the Geoducks to get within 11, 49-38, midway through the third quarter. However, Gia Sorn connected on two free-throws to spark a 7-2 run for the Loggers.
Jamie Lange – the Northwest Conference's leading rebounder – finished with 11 boards and came up two points shy of a double-double.
Daugherty tied for the game high in scoring with 14 points, all of which came in the first half. She shot 4-for-9 from beyond in the arc overall. Katie Minnehan filled the stat sheet with six points, six rebounds, three steals, and three assists.
The Loggers return to action Dec. 21 in Parkland, Washington, where Puget Sound takes on No. 13 Trinity (Tex.) as part of the Pacific Lutheran Holiday Tournament. It will be the Loggers' third game this season against a nationally-ranked opponent.
