Box Score McMINNVILLE, Oregon – Hunter Riley had his second multi-hit effort of the young season, but the Puget Sound baseball team lost a non-conference game at Linfield, 11-3, Friday night.
Riley went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI against the Wildcats (3-2). In 17 at-bats this season, he is hitting .412 and has a .500 on-base percentage.
Linfield took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Loggers (2-3) answered right back in the second. Ryota Nishino drew a one-out walk, and AJ Morioka followed with a single.
Makoa Mau then drew a free pass to load the bases, and Kyle Strash came through with an RBI on a fielder's choice to tie the game.
However, Linfield went on to score six unanswered runs.
The Loggers tacked on two runs in the seventh inning. Riley delivered an RBI double that scored Mau, and Corey Roberts hit a single that brought Riley home.
The Loggers and Wildcats are tentatively scheduled for a rematch Saturday, Feb. 15, at 12 p.m.
