Box Score 2 LA VERNE, California – Mason Quinlan and Corey Roberts both totaled three hits, but the Puget Sound baseball team lost twice at La Verne Saturday afternoon.
Puget Sound 4, La Verne 8
The Loggers held a 2-0 lead, but the Leopards scored all of their runs between two innings to earn an 8-4 win.
The Loggers plated two runs in the third inning. Kyle Strash hit a two-out single and he came around to score when Hunter Riley reached base on an error by the left fielder. Mason Quinlan then followed with an RBI single.
La Verne scored five runs in the fourth inning and three more in the seventh to take a commanding lead.
Quinlan went 3-for-5 at the plate, and Corey Roberts finished 2-for-5.
Puget Sound 1, La Verne 12 (8 inn.)
The Loggers and Leopards each posted a run in the opening stanza, but La Verne totaled nine runs between the seventh and eighth innings for a 12-1 win.
The Loggers got their lone run after Kyle Strash led off with a single. He moved into scoring position on an error, and came around to score on a double by Corey Roberts.
Puget Sound has one more game in California against Claremont-M-S Sunday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m.
