Box Score 2 TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader against Pacific Lutheran at Logger Field Sunday. The Loggers won the first game, 8-4 (9 inn.), and the Lutes won the second game, 11-0 (7 inn.).
In the first bout, Kyle Strash broke the game open with a three-run double that gave the Loggers a 6-2 lead in the fourth inning. That big fourth started with Dylan Joyce hitting a leadoff single that bounced over the short stops. He moved into scoring on a wild pitch, and Jonas Kim brought him home with a single up the middle.
Puget Sound then loaded the bases, and Nathan Blocher drew four balls to force in a run. The next batter, Strash, smacked a bases-clearing double the other way to left field.
Strash, Joyce, Kim, and Davis Miller each collected two hits. Miller opened the scoring with an RBI single in the second inning.
Owen Shellhammer earned the victory – his second of the season - by striking out four through five innings. His start was cut short by a two-hour rain delay.
Puget Sound begins Northwest Conference action with four home games against Linfield, March 13-14.
