Box Score 2 WALLA WALLA, Washington – Five Loggers hit home runs, and Owen Shellhammer earned his sixth win of the season as the Puget Sound baseball team beat Whitman twice on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Loggers scored eight runs through the first three innings, and Shellhammer remained dominant to improve to 6-1 on the season.
Shellhammer, who was named the Northwest Conference Pitcher of the Week following last week's home series against Whitworth, allowed just two earned runs on seven hits in 7.1 innings. His 2.74 ERA ranks third in the conference.
Jonas Kim set the offensive tone early when he hit a two-run homer in the first inning. It was his second homer of the season.
AJ Morioka led off the second inning with his second-career home run. Later in the inning, Kyle Strash hit an RBI single, and Dylan Joyce immediately followed by belting a two-run homer.
Joyce now has 12 home runs on the season, which is four behind Mark Rockey's single-season school record.
In the third inning, Strash ripped a two-run single. Both teams remained relatively quiet for the next several innings, until Cody Hirano crushed his first-career home run in the eighth inning. His two-run homer give the Loggers a 10-2 lead.
Strash, Joyce, Kim, Morioka, Gio Parascondola, and Makana Murashige each finished the game with multiple hits.
Puget Sound 7, Whitman 5
The Loggers erupted for a seven-run fourth inning and Andrew Matsueda picked up his third victory of the season in the Loggers' second win of the day.
Kim led off the fourth inning with a single, and Parascondola followed by hitting his second home run of the season. Morioka kept the momentum going with with a single, and he moved into scoring position on a passed ball.
Murashige drove Morioka home with a single, and then Hirano drew a walk to put two runners on base. Jackson Bolitho singled to score Murashige, and Strash singled to load the bases.
Two passed balls allowed two runs to score, and Kim ended the rally with a groundout RBI.
Matsueda allowed only two earned runs in five innings, and he struck out four.
