TACOMA, Washington – Todd Erwin announced that he is stepping down from his post as the head coach for Puget Sound men's and women's golf to take on an expanded role at Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood, Washington. Erwin was Puget Sound's head coach since Aug. 2012.
"Coach Erwin provided a positive influence for our student-athletes during his time as coach and worked well to advance their skills," said Puget Sound Athletic Director Amy Hackett. "We are grateful for his contributions and look forward to continued partnership with him in his new role at Oakbrook."
During Erwin's tenure, Puget Sound earned nine All-Northwest honors. Most recently, men's junior Reynn Hoshide earned an All-NWC nod during the 2021 season. Erwin also helped guide Mac Turner '19 to two All-NWC honors. Turner is the fourth men's golfer in program history to earn two All-NWC selections.
Puget Sound set several individual records with Erwin at the helm. In 2013, Adam Bean '15 set the Puget Sound record for best 18-hole score (67). In 2019, Turner tied that record. Turner also holds the school record for best tournament score (36 holes) when he shot a 136 in 2017.
"I'm grateful for my nine years as the head coach at Puget Sound," said Erwin. "We achieved school records during that time. But more importantly, we developed lifelong bonds. Puget Sound will forever be a special place to me, and I look forward to watching the men's and women's golf programs reach new heights in the coming years."
