Men's Tennis Calms Bruins, 6-3

NEWBERG, Ore. - A pair of wins during doubles and four wins in singles was enough to give the Puget Sound Loggers their first win of the season as they defeated the host George Fox Bruins, 6-3, in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Friday afternoon in Newberg, Ore.

In doubles play, the Bruins got a win at the top spot but the Loggers  used an 8-6 win by Alex Harrison (Southborough, Mass./The Rivers School) and Carl Larson (Portland, Ore./Wilson) at the number two spot and an 8-4 win by Scooter Sabel (Sun Valley, Idaho/Community School) and Zac Peeler (Sandy, Utah/Waterford) at the third doubles spot to take the 2-1 lead.

George Fox won again at the top by wins by Sabel, Peeler, Nick Kelly (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver) and George Murphy (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) allowed Puget Sound to celebrate the victory for the first time this season after having played seven of their first eight matches against regionally-ranked opponents.
