SALEM, Ore. - Falling behind 3-0 after doubles, the Puget Sound
Loggers managed a pair of wins in singles play but it wasn't enough
as the Willamette Bearcats dropped the Loggers to 0-4 with a 7-2
victory in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Saturday in
Salem, Ore.
In doubles play, the Loggers battled with the Bearcats but
Willamette was able to collect 8-2 wins at the numbers one and
three positions and an 8-5 victory at the second position.
In singles play, the 'Cats took the top four singles spots to
clinch the match but the Loggers didn't leave Salem empty-handed.
Senior Scooter Sabel (Sun Valley, Idaho/Community School)
earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Luke Lagattuta while freshman Ben Miller
(Silverdale, Wash./Central Kitsap) battled to win the first set
over Nathan Ramos, 7-6, before winning the second set easily, 6-2.
The Loggers will hit the road again next weekend, traveling to
George Fox on Friday afternoon and Lewis & Clark on Saturday.
