TACOMA, Wash. - One day after picking up their first win of
2010, the Puget Sound Loggers weren't quite as fortunate on
Saturday afternoon, falling to Lewis & Clark Pioneers, 8-1, in
a Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Saturday afternoon
at the UPS Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.
The undefeated Pioneers took the 3-0 lead following doubles play
as Lewis & Clark used a strong lineup to power past the Logger
pairs. In singles play, the Loggers managed a lone win in the
sixth position as senior Ashley Dombrow (Lake Forest, Ill./The
Ethel Walker School) outlasted Macrina Sharpe, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0.
Puget Sound almost picked up as second win in the fourth spot
as Ada Yu (Salem, Ore./McKay) went three sets with Jill Coleman
before falling, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0.
The Loggers hit the road next Saturday, traveling to Forest
Grove, Ore. to take on Pacific before returning to Tacoma on Sunday
afternoon to take on Pacific Lutheran at home.
