TACOMA, Wash. - Opening up the second half of Northwest
Conference play, the Puget Sound Loggers couldn't get luck to land
on their side of the net, falling 7-2 to the Whitman Missionaries
in a NWC women's tennis match on Friday in Tacoma, Wash.
The Missionaries took the lead following doubles play after
sweeping all three pairs matches. In singles play, the
Loggers couldn't break through in the top four spots but were able
to manage a pair of wins at the bottom of the lineup.
Sophomore Devin Fields (San Francisco, Calif./Lick-Wilmerding)
earned a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Charlotte Scott in the fifth spot
while senior Ashley Dombrow (Lake Forest, Ill./Ethel Walker School)
picked up a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Dena Wessel.
The Loggers will be back in action on Saturday when they play
host to defending conference champion Whitworth.
