#25 Whitman Proves Too Tough For Logger Men

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Despite taking on Whitman's number two lineup, the Puget Sound Loggers couldn't find a way to get past the 25th-ranked Missionaries, falling 9-0 in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Saturday in Walla Walla, Wash.

The Loggers battled in doubles play but Whitman was able to sweep through pairs as the Missionaries held the 3-0 lead heading into singles.  Whitman swept through doubles play as well but not without a few hard-fought matches.

In the number three singles position, senior Scooter Sabel (Sun Valley, Idaho/Community) forced three-set with Jake Cappel before falling, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0.  In the fourth position, freshman Brian Burger (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) went three sets with Quin Miller before falling, 6-2, 0-6, 1-0.

The Loggers will sit idle for 13 days as they enjoy spring break before hitting the courts again on March 26 at home against Willamette.
