PASADENA, Calif. - Taking on their third opponent in three days,
the Puget Sound Loggers improved their winning streak to two
matches, defeating the Caltech Beavers, 8-1, in a non-conference
women's tennis match on Saturday in Pasadena, Calif.
Playing the singles matches first, the Loggers took a 5-1 lead
after using straight sets in the second through fifth spots and
earning a point be default in the sixth position. The two
Maddie's pushed their win streaks to three matches as Madison Holtz
(Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Seorim Song
in the second spot and Maddie Thiesse (Chanhassen, Minn./Holy
Family) earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Qubing Ye.
The Loggers wrapped up the California road trip with two wins in
doubles play, as well as a point by default. Holtz and senior
Ashley Dombrow (Lake Forest, Ill./The Ethel Walker School) earned
an 8-3 win in the top spot while Jessie Gauger (Portland,
Ore./Lincoln) and Nina Ho (Honolulu, Hawaii/Kaiser) battled to an
8-6 win in the second spot.
The Loggers return to Northwest Conference action on Mar. 28
when they play host to Pacific.
