FOREST GROVE, Ore. - A pair of wins in singles play wasn't
enough to hold off the home Boxers as the Puget Sound Loggers fell
to Pacific, 7-2, in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match on
Saturday in Forest Grove, Ore.
The Boxers swept through doubles play to take a 3-0 lead into
individual play but the Loggers managed to collect a pair of wins
in singles play to avoid going home empty handed.
In the third individual spot, freshman Maddie Thiesse
(Chanhassen, Minn./Holy Family) earned an easy win over Dayna Wong,
6-2, 6-2, to pull her season record to 4-4 in her first collegiate
season. Sophomore Devin Fields (San Francisco,
Calif./Lick-Wilmerding) earned the win in the fifth spot, coming
back to beat Dawn Greene, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0.
The Loggers return home on Sunday, when they play host to
Pacific Lutheran in a match set to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the UPS
Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.
