TACOMA, Wash. – A hard fought battle between the
University of Puget Sound's men's soccer team and
Trinity Lutheran ended in a 0-0 tie after two overtime periods.
Both teams saw multiple chances to score but couldn't sneak
past the goalkeeper.
The Loggers (2-1-2) outshot the visiting Eagles 13-10 but
couldn't find a way to hit the back of the net. Chris McDonald came up with five save, including one late in the second
half on a breakaway opportunity for the Eagles.
However, his counterpart, Brent Gonzales was equally as
impressive with five saves of his own.
The match ended on a Logger free kick as the ball was being
knocked around in front of the net. As the free kick came in, both
team took desperate swipes but neither could gain control. The
clock hit all zeros as both teams continued to wrestle for
control.
The Loggers will take on St. Olaf tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. The Oles
beat Pacific Lutheran earlier today.
