KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Puget Sound women's basketball team came away victorious in a 88-75 win at Northwest on Tuesday. Five Loggers hit double digits in scoring and Sarah Stewart had a double-double to lead the Loggers (1-0).

Stewart scored 13 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, including 11 on the defensive end. Jocelyn Riordan scored a team-high 22 points and hit three three-pointers. The Eagles' (1-3) Jassalyn Jackson led all scorers with 31 points and had 10 boards.

"It was a game of runs," said head coach Loree Payne. "We were able to find ourselves in the last eight minutes or so. We played poised and really well over those final eight minutes."

Kelsey McKinnis added 16 points for the Loggers, who also received 13 points from Lindsay Layland and 11 from Taylor Jones. Freshman Amanda Forshay also scored nine points for the Loggers.

The Eagles were led by Jackson with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Carol Howard added 15 points and Emily Drivstuen scored 13 .

The Loggers owned a 40-29 advantage at the half and held off a 46-point surge from the Eagles in the second half with a 48-point effort of their own.

The Loggers will play in their home-opener on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they host UC Santa Cruz.
