Loggers Drop Match To Willamette

SALEM, Ore. – Freshman Logan Thompson won her second consecutive individual match, but the University of Puget Sound women's tennis team lost 7-2 to Willamette on Saturday.

Thompson earned the Loggers (0-2, 0-2 NWC) first win of the day in the No. 4 match. Marissa Friedman also won for the second time in as many days with a 7-3, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Willamette's Emily Bee in the No. 6 match.

The Bearcats (1-0, 1-0 NWC) took all three double matches to start the match. Natalia Agarycheva defeated Madison Holtz 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 match while the Bearcats' Shannon Palmer defeated Maddie Thiesse 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 2. In the No. 3 match, Willamette's Katie Huber defeated Jenna Gerdsen 6-3, 6-1. Sabrina Gutierrez earned the Bearcats' final victory, defeating Ada Yu 6-1, 6-0.

The Loggers return home next weekend to host Pacific at 4 p.m. on Friday.
