TACOMA, Wash. – The university of Puget Sound men's tennis team took an early 2-1 lead but couldn't off Linfield as the Loggers (3-9, 2-6 NWC) fell 6-3 on Friday. The Loggers took two of three doubles points to open the match but the Wildcats (4-6, 3-5 NWC) roared back with five singles wins to take the match.

Michael Cutter and Alex Harrison earned an 8-4 win for the Loggers over Tim Wagar and Tai DeWitt to get things started at #3 doubles. Nick Kelley and Chas Stewart gave the Loggers a 2-0 lead with an 8-5 win over Cody Levien and Zach Lyons. In a very competitive #1 match, Mark Madaong and Brent Kingzett snuck away with the Wildcats first point in a 9-8 (7-2) win over Brent Hoshiba and George Murphy.

Alex Harrison rode the momentum of his doubles victory into the singles portion of the match with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win in the #5 slot over Wagar. The win gave the Loggers a 3-1 lead in the match but it wasn't quite enough to hold off the Wildcats.

Linfield took the remaining singles matches in straight-sets to secure the comeback win. Magdaong defeated Cutter 6-1, 6-2 at #1 and Stewart fell 6-2, 6-2 to Kinzett at #3. At #2, DeWitt grabbed a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Murphy and Lyons earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over John Steven at #6 to clinch the match for the Wildcats. The Loggers Kelley and the Wildcats' Levien tussled over the final point but Levien emerged the 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 winner over Kelley.

The Loggers will play in their final home match of the 2011 season next Friday when they host crosstown rival, Pacific Lutheran, at 4 p.m.
