Loggers Fall To Regionally-Ranked Wildcats

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The University of Puget Sound women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss to Linfield, who is ranked ninth in the West Region. Marissa Friedman and Logan Thompson recorded the Loggers' (5-8, 2-5 NWC) one point with an 8-4 win in the #2 doubles.

In the other doubles matches, Sarah Click and Abby Olbrich defeated Maddie Holtz and Ada Yu 8-0 and Kiana Nip and Lexi Thomas defeated Nina Ho and Jenna Gerdsen by the same score for a 2-1 Linfield lead.

In singles, Linfield won all six matches in straight sets. Olbrich defeated Holtz 6-1, 6-0. Sophie Larson earned the victory at #2 6-2, 6-4 over Jenna Gerdsen and Caroline Brigham defeated Ada Yu 6-4, 6-3 at #4. Click earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Friedman and Sarah Watanabe defeated Ho 6-0, 6-1.

Thompson pushed Lexi Thomas in #3 singles, but Thomas eventually came away with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) victory.

The Loggers return home tomorrow to face Pacific Lutheran at 3:30 p.m.
