Loggers Drop Heartbreaker To Boxers

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Puget Sound women's tennis team dropped a tough 5-4 match to Pacific on Saturday. The Loggers (1-1, 1-1 NWC) received one double win and three singles wins in the match.

Freshmen duo Kira Kearsley and Allison Embernate earned a hard-fought 9-7 win in No. 1 doubles, but the Boxer would take the Nos. 2 and 3 matches to take an early lead. Ada Yu and Maddie Thiesse fell 9-7 in the No. 3 match to Rachel Mizuno and Amber Craviotto.

Three Loggers came away with straight-set victories as well. Logan Thompson won 6-4, 6-5 at No. 4 and Marissa Friedman defeated Lillian Do 6-2,6-4 in the No. 5 match. Josie Dow captured a win at No. 6 6-2, 6-1.

The Boxers took the No. 1 and No. 2 matches before clinching the match at No. 3 as Rachel Mizuno snuck past Jenna Gerdsen 7-6, 6-4.

The Loggers return home tomorrow and will host NCAA Division I opponent Seattle University.
