BEAVERTON, Ore. – The Puget Sound women's tennis team came away with a 6-3 victory over George Fox on Friday. The Loggers (2-4, 2-3 NWC) ended a four-match losing skid with the win.
The Loggers took two of three doubles matches to take control of the match early over the Bruins (1-3, 0-2 NWC). Logan Thompson and Marissa Friedman cruised to an 8-2 victory over Alyssa Emoto and Cara Griffith at #2 doubles. Ada Yu and Maddie Thiesse also won 8-5 at #3 over Chantelle Hadeed and Marissa Chau.
Thompson also defeated Griffith at #4 singles 6-2, 6-2 while Friedman earned the 6-1, 6-2 win over Hadeed at #5 singles. Jenna Gerdsen took a hard-fought 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 win at #2 over Emoto. Josie Dow earned the Loggers fourth win in singles at #6 6-1, 6-1 over Bethany Nguyen.
The Bruins Molly Beaumont earned the 6-2, 6-2 win at #1 and Shaina Inn defeated Maddie Thiesse 6-1, 6-2 at #3.
The Loggers head to Lewis & Clark tomorrow for another NWC match.
