Loggers Comeback For 5-4 Win Over Pioners

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Puget Sound squeaked out its second consecutive win with  a 5-4 win over Lewis & Clark on Saturday. The Loggers (3-4, 3-3 NWC) overcame a doubles deficit with four singles win to take the match.

Maddie Thiesse and Ada Yu scored the Loggers only doubles point with an 8-5 win over Makena McCluskey and Thersa Grigsby at #3. The Pioneers (0-5, 0-4 NWC) captured wins at #1 and #2 to take the early lead.

Marissa Friedman got the Loggers back on the right track with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #5 and Logan Thompson cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Olivia Sweetman at #4. Jenna Gerdsen won the #2 match for the Loggers 6-4, 6-3. Maddie Hotz fell 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 at #1 and Thiesse was defeated 6-0, 6-2 at #3. Josie Dow clinched the Loggers victory with a 7-5, 6-2 win at #6.

The Loggers are back home next week, starting with a 4 p.m. match against Willamette.
