Loggers Edge Linfield In Season Finale

TACOMA, Wash. – A doubles sweep keyed a 5-4 win for the Puget Sound men's tennis team over Linfield on Friday. The Loggers (2-14, 2-10 NWC) won all three doubles matches and captured the need two singles wins to end the 2012 season with a win.

Abe Noyes and John Stevens scored the Loggers first point with a win over Ben Brewer and Kadin Hashimoto 8-1 in the #3 match. Michael Cutter and Ben Miller then defeated Cody Levien and Micah Roos 8-2 for a 2-0 Logger lead. The #2 match was much closer with George Murphy and Jake Peterson eventually coming out on with a 8-5 win over Zach Lyons and LukeKleinman,

All six singles matches were decided in straight sets and the Loggers were able to get two wins to come away with the team victory. Stevens downed Hashimoto 6-2, 6-0 in the #4 match and Cutter came away with the 6-1, 6-3 win in the #2 match to clinch the victory.

Linfield (2-16, 2-9 NWC) received four singles wins in the match. Lyons won the #1 match 6-3, 6-1 and Levien won at #3 6-3, 6-2. Kleinman took the #5 match 7-6, 6-0 and Brewer won the #6 match 6-1, 6-2.

The Loggers return much of this year's squad in 2013 as only Ben Miller and George Murphy will graduate from the team this spring.
