MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Puget Sound women's tennis team fell 7-2 in its regular season finale on Friday at Linfield. The Loggers (8-9, 6-6 NWC) won a singles and a doubles point in the loss.
Ada Yu and Maddie Thiesse captured the doubles point in the #3 match with an 8-5 win over Kelly Watanabe and Lexi Thomas. However, Linfield took the 2-1 lead with an 8-2 win at #1 and an 8-3 win in the #2 match.
Josie Dow won the Loggers singles point in the #4 match with a 1-6, 6-3, 10-6 win in a three-set match. Maddie Holtz fell 6-3, 6-0 in the #1 match and Jenna Gerdsen fell 6-1, 6-2 at #2. Linfield's Kaila Nip won 6-0, 6-0 at #3 over Logan Thompson and Kiana Nip defeated Thiesse 6-1, 6-3. Watanabe finished off the win with a 6-1, 6-3 win at #6.
The Loggers are currently in a close race for the fourth and final spot in the NWC Tournament but Willamette can clinch that final spot with a win tomorrow.
