Bruins Sweep Loggers In NWC Men's Tennis

TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound men's tennis team was swept by George Fox on Sunday in Northwest Conference men's tennis action.

Justin McClain and Peter Brown started off the sweep with an 8-3 win at the #2 doubles with an 8-3 win over Graham Baker and Jake Peterson. Michael Cutter and Dainel Deuel then fell 8-4 in #1 doubles.

Abe Noyes and Jake Stevens came to the brink on taking a point for the Loggers (0-2, 0-2 NWC) but Chase Stalcup and Matt Deming came away with the 9-7 win in the final double match.

The Bruins then swept through the singles matches with McClain defeating Cutter in straight sets at #1 and Aldrich taking the win over Deuel in straight sets as well. Chris Lilley made quick work with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Baker and Preston Mann won 6-1, 6-1 over Peterson. Drew Milton took a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Noyes.

In the #6 match, Stevens forced n extra set to be played but eventually fell 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 with tiebreaker scoring in the third set.

The Loggers head east next week to take on Whitman and Whitworth.
