PARKLAND, Wash. – Four singles wins propelled the Puget Sound women's tennis team to a 5-4 comeback win over Pacific Lutheran on Friday. Josie Dow's three-set, comeback win in the No. 5 match clinched the match's final point for the Logger victory.

The Loggers (3-1, 3-1 NWC) comeback gave the Lutes (4-1, 4-1 NWC) their first loss of the young season. The Lutes had grabbed the first two points of the match in doubles before the Loggers took five of the final seven to come away with the win.

Payton McGriff and Samantha Lund took the No. 1 mach 8-1 for the Lutes over Dow and Maddie Thiesse. Leah Newell and Tina Aarsvold then won 8-4 over Logan Thompson and Marissa Friedman for a 2-0 Lute lead. In the No. 3 match, Malia Ford and Allison Embernate snuck away with a 9-7 win over Allisn McClure and Katherin Patton to get the Loggers on the scoreboard.

Thompson made quick of McGriff to start off singles, winning 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles match. Ford also won the No. 6 match in straight sets with a 6-4, 6-3 win over McClure.

All other singles matches needed a third set to be decided. Lund won the No. 1 match for PLU with a 6-7, 6-1, 6-0 win over Thiesse. Jenna Gerdsen captured a key singles point for the Loggers at No. 2 with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback win over Newell. Aarsvold captured the second singles point for the Lutes with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Friedman at No. 4.

In the final singles match to be played, Dow found a way to comeback over Catherine Miolla for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win to clinch the match for the Loggers.

The Loggers return home on Sunday to host Whitman at 9 a.m. in the Tennis Pavilion.
