ORLANDO, Fla. – The Puget Sound women's tennis team won its fourth straight match on Tuesday, defeating Colorado College 6-3. The Loggers (8-3) took another advantage out of the doubles portion of the match and remained lights out in singles.
Logan Thompson and Marissa Friedman cruised to an 8-2 win in the No. 2 match while Jenna Gerdsen and Josie Dow captured the 8-4 win at No. 3. The Tigers (3-5) stole a point for the Loggers in a tiebreaker as Maddie Thiesse and Allison Embernate fell 9-8 (7-2) to Mar Edman and Katie Patterson in the No. 2 match.
With the 2-1 advantage, the Loggers went to work in singles. Thompson won a quick 6-3, 6-0 decision at No. 3 and Embernate won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6.
The Tigers captured two points at the top of the lineup as Edman won the No. 1 match 6-3, 6-4 over Thiesse and Patterson won 6-0, 6-2 over Gerdsen at No. 2.
However, the Loggers finished the match with straight set wins at No. 4 and No. 5. Friedman defeated Calia Criss 6-4, 6-3 and Dow outlasted Maggie Harwood for a 7-5, 7-5 win.
The Loggers will continue their spring break trip competition with a match against Lawrence tomorrow at 8 a.m.
