Lutes Sweep Loggers In Midweek Match

TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound men's tennis fell 9-0 to its crosstown rivals from Pacific Lutheran on Wednesday. The Loggers (0-5, 0-5 NWC) lost a pair of tightly contested doubles matches before the Lutes (5-1, 5-1 NWC) swept through the singles in straight sets.

Michael Cutter and Graham Baker challenged the Lutes' Jason Bower and Taylor Dickey through the whole match but dropped a close 9-7 decision. Jake Peterson and Daniel Deuel also stayed close the whole way but eventually fell to Luke Olsen and Sam Angel in the No. 2 match. John Stevens and Abe Noyes also dropped the no. 3 match 8-4 to Brandon Bulaclac and Mitch Yannello.

In singles, Bower defeated Cutter in the No. 1 match 6-4, 7-6 and Baker fell to Olson 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2. Angel kept the Lutes sweep going with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Deuel. Yannello defeated Noyes 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 4 match while Dickey defeated Peterson 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5. Bulaclac completed the sweep with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Stevens.

The Loggers head out on the road this weekend, starting with a 4 p.m. match at Lewis & Clark.
