Loggers Fall 7-2 In Road Finale

PARKLAND, Wash. – The Puget Sound men's tennis team jumped back into conference play on Friday but fell 7-2 at Pacific Lutheran. Michael Cutter recorded both points for the Loggers (2-11, 1-8 NWC) with wins in doubles and singles.

Cutter teamed up with Graham Baker to win 8-5 in the No. 1 match. However, the Lutes (9-5, 7-2 NWC) took both other doubles points for a 2-1 lead. Jake and Mitch Yanello won 8-0 over Michael Tieu and John Stevens. Jake Peterson and Daniel Deuel also fell 8-2 in the Nol. 2 match.

The Lutes took four singles points in straight sets, but Cutter put an end to the string in the No. 1 match. Cutter pulled out a hard-fought 7-6 (6-3) 6-7 (4-6), 6-1 win over Jason Bower. Baker also forced a third set but eventually fell 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 to Luke Olson.

The Lutes swept through the back end of the lineup to cruise to the 7-2 win.

The Loggers are back at home for their final three matches. They host Willamette at 1 p.m.
