Loggers Make It 10 In A Row With Win At Willamette

SALEM, Ore. – The winning streak reached double digits for the Puget Sound women's tennis team with a 7-2 win over Willamette on Saturday. The Loggers won their tenth straight match and have nearly locked up a spot in the NWC Tournament, going into the final weekend.

Josie Dow and Malia Ford got things going for the Loggers with a quick 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles. Logan Thompson and Marissa Friedman followed that up with an 8-6 win at No. 2 but Maddie Thiesse and Allison Embernate fell 8-5 at No. 1.

The singles portion of the match belonged almost completely to the Loggers. Willamette's lone singles point came from Denise Poltavki's 6-1, 6-1 win over Thiesse at No. 1.

Both Thompson and Friedman did not surrender a single game in singles as both won 6-0, 6-0 for the Loggers. Jenna Gerdsen took the No. 2 match 6-1, 6-1 and Dow won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5. Ford also dominated the No. 6 match with a 6-2, 6-0 Logger win.

The Loggers head east next weekend to take on Whitworth and Whitman in the final matches of the regular season.
