TACOMA, Wash.—The Puget Sound men's tennis squad tasted victory for the first time in 2014, beating Linfield 8-1 Saturday at the on-campus Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.
Puget Sound took all six singles points, led by two 6-0, 6-0 sweeps. Atop the singles lineup, Daniel Deuel beat Linfield's Micah Roos by that score, while John Stevens breezed by Nick Konen 6-0, 6-0 as well.
Both Myles Rivera-Flam and Abe Noyes won all but four games in their singles competitions with Rivera-Flam winning 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Noyes prevailing 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
The Loggers also took two of the three doubles points. In the second doubles position, Deuel and Jake Peterson took down Lifnield's duo of Roos and Tim Hawkins 8-4. At No. 3 doubles, Rivera-Flam and Colton Wright won by default.
The Loggers (1-2, 1-2 NWC) look to continue their winning ways next Friday, March 7 when they travel to Newberg, Ore., and take on George Fox. That match will begin at 4:00 p.m.
