Loggers rush past Bruins by 8-1 tally

TACOMA, Wash.—The Puget Sound women's tennis squad breezed past Northwest Conference foe George Fox Friday, winning by an 8-1 score at the on-campus Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.

The Loggers swept doubles play, with the third doubles pair of Allison Embernate and Sarah Nielsen leading the way. They beat opponents Megan Dahlberg and Ali Diehl 8-3.

In the singles contest, Embernate tallied her second win of the night over Diehl, defeating the Bruin 6-0, 6-2. At No. 2 singles, Jenna Gerdsen also tallied a big win, taking down Chantelle Hadeed 6-3, 6-0.

Also tallying straight-set singles victories were Logan Thompson atop the singles lineup, Elizabeth Chao at No. 3 singles, and Malia Ford at No. 4 singles. Nielsen and Dahlberg played a three-setter in the fifth singles position with Dahlberg prevailing 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(7-3).

The Loggers (4-1, 3-1 NWC) look to continue their winning ways Saturday, March 8 when they host Lewis & Clark. That match will begin at 1:00 p.m., again at the Tennis Pavilion on the University of Puget Sound campus.
