TACOMA, Wash.—The Puget Sound men's tennis began its final homestand of the season Saturday afternoon, hosting the Lewis & Clark Pioneers at the on-campus Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash. The visiting Pioneers won the match 9-0.
One Logger tallied a set victory to force a three-set affair in singles action. At No. 3 singles, freshman Myles Rivera-Flam took on Morgan Joyce. Joyce won the first set 6-1, but the Logger rallied back in the second set, winning by a similar 1-6 score. In the third set super tiebreak, however, Joyce prevailed 10-7 to take the contest and preserve the Pioneer sweep
At No. 5 singles, John Stevens won seven total games in a 6-4, 6-3 loss to Parker Nichols, and Daniel Deuel took five games in a 6-4, 6-1 loss atop the singles lineup.
The match started with doubles play, where the Pioneers prevailed in all three matches as well.
Puget Sound (3-11, 2-8 NWC) has two more matches remaining in the 2014 season. They host Pacific on Friday, April 18 at 4:00 p.m. and George Fox on Saturday, April 19 at 11:00 a.m. Both matches will take place at the Tennis Pavilion.
