Women's tennis comes up short to Pacific, 5-4; men lose on the road

TACOMA, WashingtonTresa Bild won both her singles and doubles match, but the Puget Sound women's tennis team narrowly lost to Pacific at home on Saturday, 5-4. Meanwhile, the Logger men's tennis team lost on the road at Pacific, 9-0.

Playing at No. 4 singles, Bild won her first set, 6-2. After dropping the second set, 6-2, Bild battled back to win the tiebreaker, 10-6. She and Sophie Geha teamed for a victory at No. 2 doubles, 8-6.

Elizabeth Chao and Nicki Bouche won at No. 1 doubles for Puget Sound (0-4), 9-8 (8-6). Kyla Richards earned a win in No. 5 doubles, 6-3, 6-4.

On the men's side, Riley Inn battled to a tie-breaker at No. 4 singles. Inn won the first set, 6-4, but lost the second set (6-4) and the tiebreaker (11-9). Two Puget Sound doubles teams lost by just two games. Daniel Deuel and Nicholas Lupan fell, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles, and Chris Severt and Andrew Struzenberg lost at No. 3 doubles by the same score. 

The women's team hosts Lewis & Clark on Sunday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m., while the men's team compete at Pioneers' home courts at 10 a.m.
