Lange, Prewitt, power Loggers to win at Warner Pacific

Box Score

PORTLAND, OregonJamie Lange and Elizabeth Prewitt both posted double-doubles as the Puget Sound women's basketball team edged out Warner Pacific, 68-65, on the road Saturday evening.

Prewitt grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and added 14 points. Lange led all players with 18 points and pulled down 11 boards. The Loggers (3-1) continue to dominate the battle on the boards and outrebounded the Knights (2-6), 53-30.

Mara Henderson filled the stat sheet for Puget Sound, finishing with 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Neither team led by more than three points in the fourth quarter. The Loggers were trailing, 59-57, when Cassidy Daugherty's 3-pointer with 4:42 on the clock gave Puget Sound a one-point lead. Ninety seconds later Prewitt hit a pair of free-throws to increase the lead to 62-59.

The Knights briefly claimed a lead, 64-63, with 1:39 on the clock, but Lange connected on a layup in the Loggers' ensuing possession, and Puget Sound never relinquished the lead from that point.

Despite a subpar game in terms of field-goal percentage (37.7 percent), Puget Sound was a solid 23-for-28 from the free-throw line.

The Loggers open their Northwest Conference schedule at home against Whitworth on Friday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m.
