Women's tennis beats College of Idaho twice to open spring season

CALDWELL, Idaho – The Puget Sound women's tennis team opened its spring season with two victories at College of Idaho on Saturday. Both victories were by a 6-3 margin.

Nicole Bouche and Lisa Owen teamed up to win both of the their doubles matches, each of which ended with an 8-4 score. Elizabeth Chao and Bridget Myers dropped a tough doubles match, 9-8 (7-0), but the duo bounced back to win its next doubles match to the tune of an 8-1 victory. Tresa Bild and Barclay Fagg teamed up to win their first doubles match, 9-7, but lost the second doubles match, 8-2.

In singles play, Owen won both contests in the No. 1 slot (3-6, 6-2, 6-0; 6-1, 6-1). Bouche was also undefeated at the No. 2 singles spot between both matches (6-1, 7-6 in the first match). Playing in the No. 5 singles position, Fagg also earned a pair of victories (6-0, 6-3; 4-6, 6-1 (10-6)).

The Loggers open Northwest Conference play when they host Whitman on Saturday, Feb. 17.
