Box Score

CLAREMONT, California – Tayla MacPherson's early goal was all the Puget Sound women's soccer team needed as the Loggers blanked Claremont-M-S on the road, 2-0, on Sunday.

Jamie Lange tallied seven saves for her first-career shutout, and Gabbie Berg added an insurance goal in the second half.

The Loggers (1-1) got on the board when Tess Peppis crossed a pass from the right side to MacPherson at the top of the 18-yard box. The Seattle native buried her second-career goal to give Puget Sound a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.

Berg also netted her second-career goal on Sunday. She put away a rebound after Lura Morton drilled a shot on goal from the right side in the 58th minute.

Lange made four saves in the second half, including a stop in the 87th minute to preserve the shutout.

The Stags (0-3) managed 16 shots to the Loggers' 10.  CMS also finished with the advantage in corner kicks, 8-3.

The Loggers make their home debut against Eastern Oregon on Friday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m.
