Men nearly beat Willamette; Bouche remains unbeaten

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's tennis team nearly won its first match of the season, but it came up short at home against Willamette, 5-4, Saturday. The Logger women won their second consecutive match with a 6-3 victory at Willamette.

The Logger men won two out of three doubles matches. Riley Inn and Joshua Wah-Blumberg pulled off an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while Lowell Hutton and Graham Byron won at No. 3 doubles, 8-6. 

Aiden Velasco was victorious at No. 4 singles (6-2, 5-7, 7-5), and Lowell won No. 5 singles in two sets (6-0, 6-3). 

On the women's side, Nicole Bouche continued her undefeated season against NCAA D-III opponents. She won at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-4), and teamed up with Bridget Myers for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. 

Myers won her No. 3 singles match in two sets (6-3, 7-5), while Barclay Fagg needed three sets to win at No. 2 singles (6-1, 1-6, 6-0). Avery Honaker needed two sets, and a little extra, for a win at No. 5 singles (6-1, 7-6 (7-5)).

Fagg and Lia Van Steer teamed up to win No. 2 doubles, 8-6.

The Loggers finish the weekend against Northwest Conference foe Pacific Sunday, March 17.
