Duncan Varela ran all over the Lutes once again. Last week he ran for 131 yards on 20 carries and totaled three touchdowns. He was named the Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for offense for the second time this season.
His first honor followed the Loggers' season-opening win over PLU (Feb. 6), when Varela ran for 132 yards and totaled three touchdowns. With 107.3 rushing yards per game, Varela is by far the conference's leading rusher. The next closest mark is 56.5 rushing yards per game.

Poetzinger isn't the only Logger getting it done on defense. Ezekial Sayavong enters this weekend as the conference leader in sacks (3), and Zachary Meyer ranks fifth in tackles (19).
The Loggers and Pirates met in Spokane Feb. 13, and Whitworth won by a score of 53-6. Puget Sound's points were on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Murdock Rutledge to Anthony Ball.
