TACOMA, Wash. - Pulling away in the second half, the 22nd-ranked
Puget Sound Loggers rolled past the Lewis & Clark Pioneers,
81-57, in a Northwest Conference men's basketball game on Friday
night at Memorial Fieldhouse in Tacoma, Wash.
In the first half, the Loggers used their signature high-tempo
offense and full-court defense to hold back the Pioneers, who shot
just 33.3% from the field. Senior Jason Foster (Spanaway,
Wash./Henry Foss) put up nine points in the first period to give
the Loggers a 34-28 halftime lead.
In the second half, the Loggers seemingly couldn't miss from the
field, making 17-of-25 attempts for 68.0%, including five-of-10
from behind the arc. Puget Sound utilized their bench in the
final period, getting all 18 players on the roster into the game.
The Loggers were led by 17 points from Austin Boyce (Kent,
Wash./Kentwood). Foster finished with 13 points and 10
rebounds while Bryce Levin (Everett, Wash.) came off the bench
to add 12. Freshman Nadav Heyman (Corvallis, Ore.) scored 11
and Steffond Brown (Seattle, Wash./Lower Columbia CC) chipped in 10
to round out the Loggers in double-digit scoring.
Lewis & Clark was led by 17 points from Josh Kollasch.
James Edwards added 15 in the loss. The Pios committed 21
turnovers on the game but managed to get 11 steals on 18 UPS
turnovers.
The Loggers will look to go 2-0 in NWC play on Saturday night
when they play host to Linfield. Tip-off with the Wildcats is
set for 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Fieldhouse in Tacoma, Wash.
