Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – In a "tale of two halves" game, the University of Puget Sound men's basketball team fell to Evergreen State 87-73 on Wednesday. Kaleb Shelton had a season-high 28 points and the Loggers (4-4) had a four-point lead at the break, but five Geoducks (2-8) reached double figures to capture the non-conference win.
The Loggers shot 61.5 percent in the first half to put up their most points in a half this season and a 41-37 lead. Shelton had 11 points by the half on 3-of-4 shooting from the floor and 4-of-4 shooting at the line. However, the Geoducks turned it on in the second half, shooting 50 percent.
Josh Troyer scored 12 of his team-high 17 points in the second half to lead the Geoduck comeback. Maurice Tolliver added 15 points as did Mikey Hope with 12 points in the second half.
Shelton continued his hot shooting and repeatedly found his way to the charity stripe in the second half. He finished on 7-of-13 shooting and sunk 13 of his 15 free throw attempts. He scored 17 points in the second half to keep the Loggers within striking distance until the final minutes.
Aaron Edwards added 12 points and six rebounds for the Loggers and Riggs Yarbro tallied 11 points.
The Loggers head to northern California in a week and a half to face Bethany on Dec. 20 and San Jose State on Dec. 22.
