Box Score PARKLAND, Wash. – The University of Puget Sound men's basketball walked into a hostile environment across town and fell to Pacific Lutheran 71-59 on Tuesday night. Ryan Rogers and Anthony Gittens both had career nights for the Loggers.
A six-minute scoring drought put the Loggers in a sizeable hole, which they nearly clawed out of in the second half. Down 38-27 at halftime, the Loggers took their only lead of the second half when Caleb Gauff hit a three-pointer with 10:41 left, giving the Loggers a 48-47 edge. However, the Lutes responded on the next possession to regain the lead.
The Lutes continued to fight off the Loggers comeback attempts and held on for the victory.
Rogers had a season-high 15 points, hitting five three-pointers, to lead the Loggers. Anthony Gittens added 10 points as did Edric Egberaure. The Loggers shot 8-of-16 from three-point range as a team behind Rogers' 5-of-6 shooting from long range.
Curtis Trondsen leb the Lutes with 16 points while Kyle MacTaggart added 14 points. Victor Bull was just shy of a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds.
Both teams had similar numbers as the Loggers shot 47.1 percent to the Lutes 45.5 percent. However, the Lutes won the turnover battle as the Loggers had 18 turnovers to the Lutes' 11.
The Loggers head south to McMinnville, Ore. for another NWC contest at Linfield on Saturday.
