Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – A six-game losing streak came to a screaching halt as the University of Puget Sound men's basketball team defeated George Fox 80-75 on Friday. The Loggers (6-10, 3-4 NWC) never trailed in the game and led by as many as 18 points in their first victory of 2011.
Four Loggers scored in double digits with Kaleb Shelton's 21 points leading the way. Gabe Borboa contributed 16 points while Yarbro Riggs added 10 and Edric Egberaure scored 14 points. Egbearure was just shy of a double-double as he also had a team-high nine rebounds while also dishing out six assists.
"We did a really good job taking what the defense was giving us," said head coach Justin Lunt. "Being up 18 with six minutes to go, we hit some adversity and they hit some shots. They got back in the game but we showed a lot of compsure. We executed and did all the little things."
Egberaure turned in a solid first half effort to help the Loggers build an early lead. After the first half, he had six points, seven rebounds and six assists.
The Loggers shot 49.2 percent from the floor while holding the Bruins (4-12, 2-5 NWC) to 10 percent shooting. Stephen Wiseley had a game-high 29 points for the Bruins on 9-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-8 shooting beyond the arc. Mike Taylor was also just shy of a double-double for the Bruins with 15 points and nine rebounds.
The battle on the glass was won by the Loggers, who outrebounded the Bruins 44-34 in the game. The Loggers also generated 13 second-chance points off 16 offensive rebounds.
Lewis & Clark will visit Memorial Fieldhouse tomorrow at 8 p.m. as the Loggers to remain unbeaten at home in conference play.
