Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – A furious comeback attempt fell just shy of completion as the University of Puget Sound women's lacrosse team fell 15-13 to Pacific on Tuesday. The Loggers (0-1) rattled off four straight goals to climb within one of the Boxers (1-0) before Pacific bucked the rally in the closing seconds.
The Loggers found themselves down five goals through much of the second half but turned it on in the final three minutes. Down 14-9, Anna Gunderson put one of her two goals in the net with 2:59 remaining, followed by Bradia Holmes just 20 seconds later.
With the score now 14-11, Jessica McDonald struck once at the 1:34 mark and again with 56 seconds left to narrow the gap to 14-13. It was the closest the Loggers had been since going down 1-0 just 30 seconds into the match.
Natalie Getchell slammed the door on the Logger rally with the last of her five goals on the night with 17 seconds left. Kaitlyn Harper contributed four goals for Pacific in the match, including the first two goals of the match in the first minute.
Kristine Morris and Jessica McDonald led the Loggers with three goals each.
The Loggers head to California next week for a three-match swing. The road trip start with a tough match against Claremont on Mar. 12.
